If you build a three-story hotel with beach sand (salt-sand) it will not last. So, in time this hotel was abandoned, left to melt back in-to the beach, down in Mexico. There were a lot of large rooms, some in better shape than others. Artists were using it (gratis) some living there, some just for a studio. One morning I went to visit someone on the third floor. Outside his door, was a cat, enjoying the cool tile. I thought, this would be a good painting, and said "hold that pose". I ran down to the van, grabbed the camera, ran back three-flights. The cat hadn't moved. I snapped a picture and said, "thank you". The cat gave an expression of regal tolerance, rose and strolled off. I'm pretty sure the cat didn't even speak English.
